Corfu's famous greenery is due to the winter rains, it can pour for days, but it snows maybe only once a year, so that is quite an event. Temperatures do dip down below zero frequently at night, but rise to about 12 C during the day in the coldest months, sometimes a lot higher with bright sunshine - and the clarity and brightness of many winter days make glorious weather for walking, cycling, sailing, even swimming and other outdoor activities.
Christmas is low-key without the commercial hype of other countries; New Year is the day for present-giving and partying. Then comes Carnival which is three weeks of mayhem, followed by the run-up to Easter when the whole island wakes up to the fact that the new tourist season is almost here.

  • Description:

Since 1981 Casa Lucia has been a meeting point for holiday makers, workshop holidays and the local community. Its unique atmosphere, its tranquillity and liberal attitude appeal to all ages, all nationalities, to families, individuals and groups. Many friendships have been forged here, people come back year after year, children have grown up and return with their children.

Classic beauty in the heart of Corfu

The resort is beautifully situated at Sgombou, a tiny village nearby Gouvia. The buildings, some dating from Venetian times, were lovingly restored and converted by Dennis Androutsopoulos. The thick stone walls, clay tile roofs, high cross-beamed ceilings and vaulting stone arches have been retained and highlighted. Special care has been taken in equipping each cottage to a high degree of comfort and convenience. Equal attention is paid to cleanliness with daily maid service; and to maintaining the property in good working order. Each cottage has its own outdoor area with chairs, table and umbrella.

    Events during your holidays

Regular classes take place in various body-mind practices such as t'ai chi, yoga, qigong and 'bodylistening'. Qualified practitioners come to give massages, beauty treatments, and alternative therapies. Guided walks into the unspoiled countryside of Corfu are organised.
Workshops are frequent ranging from yoga, t'ai chi, dance, theatre and voice to Greek cookery, painting and poetry. These are taught by local and visiting teachers and attended by the visiting group, individual visitors and the local community. (Bookings from leaders with their own groups are welcome. Please contact us to discuss arrangements.)
Child care is available on request and there are creative activities for children of all ages.

    Creative holiday on Corfu

We also host concerts and performances, family and child centred workshops and events, exhibitions, research projects, meetings and festivals. Casa Lucia is an ideal venue for creative projects involving a group. The creative process is supported by the group living communally and functioning collectively for the duration of the project, and by the reduction of exterior distractions. It is also a perfect venue for family re-unions, weddings and other such gatherings.

    Little paradise on Corfu

The gardens have been created with respect to the indigenous plantation of the land and are constantly inspired by it. They gradually blend in with the original olives, cypress, quince and Judas trees. Bougainvillea, roses, geranium, citrus, peach, fig and apricot flourish around green lawns.
Βignonia, jasmine and vines provide fragrant shade and screen the swimming pool, which has been recently restored with mosaics.
Casa Lucia is in the centre of the island making it an ideal starting point for exploring the whole of Corfu. It is run by Val Osborne-Androutsopoulou, and her daughter Zoë Valerie.
